Invitation

Your mind will open to allow you to see and hear, while at the same time the pain within Scott has turned out the lights. His today and tomorrows were forever diminished as the glow from the light of his soul became overwhelmed.

Sometimes in life, we want so much to have something or someone, and as the minutes of our frail lives tick perpetually away, soft and quietly, we fail to prepare for, or hear the golden moments of opportunity. It is only when one truly wants above all else, even beyond their own selfish thoughts, to give and to have for another that the world takes on a new shape, or perhaps offers a new dimension. The rainbow is even reinvented and seems now dull, compared to the vibrancy of the world at its back. You are no longer locked up inside yourself. The very existence of you is a testament to something greater. It was and will always be about finding, and knowing a purer love exits. Perhaps you have only failed to hear it…until now.

There is a crossroads in time for each of us where things meet, and where what is meant to be begins to develop. This is what you will soon understand. Some may see the signs along the way…most will run the stop signs in their haste. Who are the fortunate ones? Are they the ones who slow down to see and hear the world around them? Is it those of us who look for all the signs, and never see a thing…perhaps then, better off never knowing more—only guessing? Does living on faith alone deliver the answers we seek?

Did I know the older bully in my life would become more than a brother, but a best friend? I doubt that he ever considered that he would take on his greatest challenge when he did, and in doing so discover who he is. Why would one person become so curiously important to him? What significance comes from a dying man, offering only the softest words, barely whispers of thought? How do whispers then, incapable of giving flight to a feather, have the power to alter a man’s life? Are such soft, nearly unspoken words worth the gamble he would take to learn why? What follows…is one man’s fight to remember any memories that may give him a future.
